Manages professional staff in the preparation, quality and timeliness of quarterly and annual external GAAP-basis deliverables, including MD&A, 10-K and 10-Q style reports. Provides technical guidance on significant and complex GAAP accounting and reporting issues to the Investment department. Determines direction and monitors implementation of new investment related accounting pronouncements and SEC requirements. Develops, updates, implements and monitors adherence to accounting policies, procedures, controls and improvement projects related to GAAP reporting in collaboration with business unit finance teams, the Corporate Accounting Policy team, Investments Compliance, and internal and external auditors. Manages the planning and direction of GAAP investment accounting and reporting projects including process improvement initiatives. Coaches, develops and motivates staff.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Manage preparation, quality, timeliness and efficiency of GAAP-basis deliverables.

2. Manage and lead continuous process improvement initiatives; evaluate opportunities for improvement; perform cost/benefit analysis of opportunities, prioritize initiatives and manage and monitor projects to successful implementation.

3. Review financial reporting developments and changes to guidance to determine impact on GAAP reporting and disclosure requirements, determine and manage implementation of necessary changes, summarize and communicate conclusions to senior management.

4. Provide technical accounting support by evaluating GAAP accounting implications of complex investments and transactions; summarize and communicate conclusions for senior management.

5. Responsible for managing the creation, review, updating and communication of GAAP accounting policy in collaboration with Investment management, the Corporate Accounting Policy team and Portfolio Managers.

6. Responsible for evaluating, developing, maintaining and updating internal controls and ensuring that processes and controls are aligned with accounting policy, regulatory compliance and department objectives.

7. Hire, coach, develop and motivate direct reports. Evaluates performance and provide feedback for growth opportunities. Define individual objectives and development plans and ensure alignment with company, department and project objectives.


Requirements

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required.

* Advanced business degree and/or CPA, CFA, CMA designation is strongly desired.

* A minimum of 10 years of GAAP/SEC reporting experience is required and a focus on investment reporting is preferred.

* A minimum of 5 years prior management experience with exposure to the securities industry and investment regulations and accounting practices required.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and decision-making abilities required.

* Demonstrated analytical, computer and organizational skills.

* Proven experience leading significant projects to successful and timely completion.
